A precise amount of molten metal is transported to the dosing chamber manually with ladle or automatic with dosing device or dosing furnace.

The materials used are aluminium, zinc or magnesium alloys.

The cold chamber may be vertical or horizontal. Nevertheless, in recent years horizontal chamber machines find a wider application.
